The beautiful Storehouse exterior.

Have you noticed our new look? It’s hard to miss if you’re near the corner of Broadway and Central.  With a generous grant from PNM, the Storehouse’s building exterior has had a facelift, just in time for the positive changes happening in our neighborhood with Innovate Albuquerque.

The Storehouse has been fighting hunger for over 40 years. Though our building is well-known to our volunteers, donors, and clients, it was showing wear and tear. The Storehouse was not representative of the welcoming nature of our staff and volunteers.

We were fortunate to receive a grant from the PNM Fund, a division of PNM that supports local nonprofits. The goal was to improve the exterior of the Storehouse food pantry fixed site, which would help our organization embody our welcoming spirit, as well as improve the appearance of our neighborhood.

PNM was the major funder who made the work possible and kicked off the renovation, but other local businesses also donated services or work to complete the project, and were part of the effort. Signarama donated half the cost of our new signs, and Sherwin Williams gave a steep discount on the fresh coat of paint that was desperately needed. Talented local artist Angel Pavia created beautiful mural panels that feature New Mexico’s distinct agricultural heritage. The panels were mounted by the Couty Design team, who completed and installed the metalwork that supports the artwork.

The exterior renovation brightens the neighborhood, and the newly improved Storehouse site is more welcoming to volunteers and donors, as well as to the people we serve. Thank you, PNM!
