Positive Energy Solar was founded in 1997 with three priorities in mind—the people, the planet, and reinvesting profit into the community. Positive Energy Solar became a Certified B Corporation in 2013. Certified B Corporations are held to high social and environmental standards in accordance to the third-party nonprofit B Lab. B corporations are designed with sustainable growth in mind, and to benefit the surrounding community. As of 2024, PES is now a Benefit Corporation, verified by Benefit Corporations for Good. Today, they continue their mission to give back to New Mexico. The Storehouse is fortunate to be one of the many local nonprofit organizations that Positive Energy Solar supports. They work with the food pantry as volunteers and as donors.
Install Solar and Fight Hunger
In 2023, Positive Energy Solar began their initiative to fight hunger in New Mexico. For every solar energy system they install, PES donates up to 100 meals to the Storehouse.
That contribution is about a cart full of groceries, which is what households who visit the Storehouse food pantry receive. As a nonprofit, we share Positive Energy’s goals of giving back. In the food pantry world, we add value by providing nutritious foods whenever we can. That means fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, and dairy products, alongside a variety of shelf stable foods.
These gifts bring hope to local families, but they also have added up to a lot of support. Since they began their partnership with the Storehouse, Positive Energy Solar has raised more than $17,100 total for the food pantry. That is 85,500 meals for local people in need, from babies to seniors.
Truly, Positive Energy Solar is making positive strides to fight hunger in New Mexico.
Solar Referral Program Helps Even More!
In 2025, Positive Energy Solar is ramping up its contributions to the Storehouse. Beyond the donation of 100 meals, PES will contribute an additional $500 dollars to Storehouse New Mexico for every household that chooses solar energy through this initiative.
Every dollar donated creates 5 meals for people in need of food in our community. That means with every person who gets solar through this program, we are giving out more than 2,500 meals to food-insecure people in our community. Do you know people who are considering going solar?
