Due to the pandemic, we are boxing and bagging food for hundreds of people daily, so it’s no surprise that the Storehouse is in need of volunteers. We welcome both individuals and groups to volunteer at the food pantry. Whether you come alone to spend your day doing something positive for our community, or your workplace or organization needs a good cause to support, we need your help! Wondering if your family can help? As long as your kids are ages 9 and older, we absolutely welcome your family as volunteers!
Volunteers Have Important Duties
The Storehouse serves tens of thousands of people a year. We have a limited number of staff members so we truly count on volunteers to fulfill our mission fighting hunger. During the coronavirus pandemic, volunteers are helping pack boxes and bags of food. Specifically boxes of nonperishable items like canned goods and pastas, and bags of meat and fresh fruits or vegetables. Volunteers are also helping sort donated food. On days the food pantry is open, volunteers are also pushing and loading carts, and helping our clients get food out to their cars. This is vital work in helping New Mexican families stay well-fed!

Safety is Our Priority
Our clients, volunteers, and staff are extremely important to us. We want everyone to be safe during this time. We provide gloves, but if you come volunteer please bring and wear your own mask. We are working as safely as possible and do have an area to wash hands. We are following social distancing rules and scheduling volunteers to limit exposure to COVID19 as much as we can.
Sign up to volunteer!
If you would like to volunteer, please sign up at StorehouseNM.org. We love ongoing volunteers who can come a few hours every week, but we’re happy to have you come even it you can donate only a few hours to the food pantry. Volunteer hours are Monday through Saturday at approximately 8 am to 2 pm. Once you sign up, you’ll be contacted and assigned a day and time to help. Though we normally allow walk-in volunteers to just drop by the pantry, due to COVID19 we are scheduling people so we can maintain social distancing. On the day you volunteer, please come to our back door on the east side of the building next to our roll-up truck door. Ring the bell and someone will let you inside. Thank you for supporting our mission and helping feed people in need.
