Giving Tuesday is a global day of charity, which kicks off the traditional holiday giving season. It’s celebrated annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. So it’s Black Friday, Cyber Monday then Giving Tuesday. This year, Giving Tuesday is December 3.
The Storehouse counts on donors to keep feeding local families and we have amazing donors, so of course we’re taking part in this world-wide effort to celebrate generosity. Because we try to bring smiles to our community, and especially the people who turn to us for food, we are taking a comedic turn on Giving Tuesday. If you follow us on social media you’ll see lots of silliness, food jokes, and fun in an effort to raise awareness about hunger in a new way and hopefully encourage people to support our work.
The Storehouse team would like to thank local comedian and actor Pete Christensen for volunteering his time and talents to help us.
We invite you to follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see our Giving Tuesday campaign and to keep up on all the good things happening at the Storehouse pantry on a regular basis. (@storehousenm)
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, the idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Let’s make this holiday season less about taking and more about giving. Together, we can improve New Mexico.
